Back in the earlier days of cryptocurrency, prices on exchanges could have sometimes been significant across platforms. Two programmers, Robert Borden and William Kehl, saw the need to automate the exchange process and released Coinigy, which gained a lot of attention when it was first released.

Coinigy was launched in 2015 as a portfolio tracker and trading terminal, as well as giving users the ability to control their wallets on a number of exchanges.

Coinigy also launched with a number of cryptocurrency analysis tools that were unseen at the time, so the platform was seen as a major breakthrough.

Over time, the team behind Coinigy also released apps for Android and iOS. These apps function quite differently to the original web app, as there is no trading functionality on iOS, and are better suited as a portfolio tracker.

The website also has a number of built-in apps like ArbMatrix, BlockExplorer, ChartScanner, CryptoTicker, GoogleSheets, MarketWatch, NewsWire, and SocialScanner

The trading terminal offers limit and synthetic stop-limit order types. Coinigy monitors 43 exchanges, including Binance, Bitfinex, BitMEX, and Gemini but users are limited to trade on 11 of them.

Though trading on Coinigy is mostly spot trading, margin trading is available while using Poloniex and Bitfinex.

Price alerts are also available via SMS, email, and browser notifications.

Coinigy is considered a veteran of the cryptocurrency world and was revolutionary at launch, but in recent years the team behind the platform has been slow to add features available with newer tools. Despite this, it is still one of the most widely-used tools out there today.
